Research Interests
I am interested in understanding the design principles underlying the living systems that emerged from evolution. I hope to use this foundational knowledge to construct synthetic cells and multicellular systems, which will have broad biotechnological and biomedical applications. Please visit my lab website to check out latest updates about our research projects. This site will continue to be updated as my personal website. About meHello, World! I am Xianrui Cheng (程显睿), an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California.
I am interested in understanding systems-level logic of biological phenomena. I combine mathematical modeling and experiments to uncover mechanisms underlying the spatial organization of the cell and signal transmission within the cytoplasm. Check out my past and current work on the Research page. I was trained in the Computational Biology and Bioinformatics PhD Program at Duke University, and at the Duke Center for Systems Biology, co-mentored by Professor Joshua Socolar from Duke Physics Department and Professor David McClay from Duke Biology Department. I did my postdoc training with Professor James Ferrell at Stanford University. Contact
